Carpet Flooring vs Laminate Flooring

Carpet Flooring vs Laminate Flooring

Carpet is made from natural (wool) or synthetic fiber (nylon, or polyester). Laminate flooring is usually manufactured from multi-layered synthetic product which comprised of pattern layer, stabilizing layer, melamine resin, high-density fiberboard or wood particles. Carpet is less durable than laminate flooring, carpet can last about 3-5 years for average quality and 10-15 years for top quality while most laminate flooring can last long up to 15-25 years or even 25-30 years for top quality laminates.

Carpet is less resistant to liquid splashes and moisture exposure whereas laminate is more resistant to water spill but it cannot handle standing water. Carpet is harder to clean up if compared with laminate that is more hygienic and easier to clean up. Typically, carpet (except natural wool) is cheaper than laminate. Carpet is softer than laminate while laminate is hard, loud and slippery. Both flooring deliver wide range of style and design alternatives. Both carpets require also professional installation.
