Carpet is made from natural (wool) or synthetic fiber (nylon, or polyester). Vinyl flooring is basically made up of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and some other compounds. Carpet is less versatility of design, style, pattern and colors options if compared to vinyl that is customizable and designable.

Carpet is less resistant to liquid splashes, stain as well as moisture exposure whereas vinyl is more resistant to spills, stain and moisture. Carpet is more challenging to clean up and maintain meanwhile vinyl is easier to clean up and look after. Carpet is less able to withstand high foot traffic if compared to vinyl a preferred option for high foot traffic areas. While carpet is able to absorb/ block noise though vinyl is lack of sound reduction ability. Lastly, both carpets have comparable cost and installation fee.
